Bydgoszcz 2022 FISU World University Championship finished on Friday’s evening September 18th.In the event we could observe around 150 athletes from 17 countries competing for the medals on Brdyujscie Regatta Course in Bydgoszcz, Poland!

The Poles were definitely the best in this year’s championship. The athletes competed in 28 categories. In the canoeing medal classification, the Poles were the clear winners with 11 medals including 7 gold. Just behind them was the Republic of Moldova, which won 3 gold medals. All of them were won by one athlete! In third place was Spain with 7 medals, including two gold.

In kayaking, the Poles also decisively won the medal classification. They won a total of 13 medals, including as many as 12 gold. In second place was Germany with 2 gold medals and the third place belongs to Portugal with 7 medals, including 1 gold.
At the closing ceremony six special awards were presented. They were awarded to the teams and athletes with the highest number of points. The best mixed team in both canoe and kayak categories were teams from Poland. The best competitor in the male canoe category was Pole Oleksii Koliadych. In the female canoe category, the award went to Ewelina Antos from Poland. The best female athlete in the kayak was Polish Helena Wisniewska, and the best male athlete was Tomas Jusevicius from Lithuania.

During the championship everyone had a great time. The atmosphere on the track was indescribable. At the end, everyone was able to participate in the after party, where there was no shortage of integration and good music. Thank you all for the participation and making the event such a success!
