It’s only one week until the Championship! During Bydgoszcz 2022 FISU World University Championship Canoe Sprint, we will see 159 participants from 18 countries competing for the medals!

They are representatives from Canada, Czech Republic, Spain, France, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Germany, Hungary, Islamic Republic of Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, The Republic of Moldova, The Republic of North Macedonia, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, and Ukraine. The most numerous group is the Polish one, namely, they have as many as 24 participants! Right behind them there are 20 athletes representing Spain. The third in this category, which is 17 people, is Czech Republic. In the 2022 FISU World University Championship Canoe Sprint we will count 58 female athletes where the most numerous team is Spain – 10 women. At the Brdyujscie Regatta Course, there will be 101 male athletes where 16 out of all of them are from Poland.

The Championship is held in Bydgoszcz, the capital of Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. The host is in the top 10 cities in Poland when it comes to population. One of the most recognizable symbols – the statue of the Archer (pol. “Łuczniczka”) stands in the Jan Kochanowski Park in Bydgoszcz. Copies of the statue can be found in four German cities, including Berlin. Another characteristic place in Bydgoszcz is The Rother’s Mills located on Mill Island. It is one of the most important tourist spots on Bydgoszcz’s map. This is the place where on September 15th at 5:00 pm the Opening Ceremony takes place. The day after that the 2022 FISU Championship Canoe Sprint starts.
