With less than one year to 2022 FISU World University Championship Canoe Sprint, Bydgoszcz is getting ready to welcome canoeists from all over the world!

Last week, the Organizing Committee had the honor to host FISU Representatives during the inspection visit. The following members of the FISU Family conducted the inspection: Ms. Cathy Wynne – Substitute Technical Committee Chair, Mr. Alejandro Guerra – Championships & World Cups Sport Coordinator, and Mr. PrzemysławJagielski – Regional Event Coordinator. The visit involved inspecting the Brdyujście Regatta Course, the places of accommodation, and also discussing the organizing, logistic and sporting issues.

During the second day of the visit, press conference took place at the Kazimierz Wielki University. In addition to the FISU Members, the OC invited the following guests: Ms. IwonaWaszkiewicz – Vice-president of Bydgoszcz, dr. hab. Marek Macko – Vice-rector for Development and Cooperation of Kazimierz Wielki University, PhD KatarzynaDomańska – OC President, prof.dr.hab. Bernard Mendlik – OC Vice-president.

It has been emphasized that KU AZS UKW – the organizers of 2022 FISU World University Championship Canoe Sprint – can, as always, count on the help provided by the local authorities – Bydgoszcz City Hall – who supports the university sports. As Iwona Waszkiewicz (Bydgoszcz Vice-president) noticed “We witnessed many successful events organized by KU AZS UKW. We support these championships financially and in the transportation area. We are glad that KU AZS UKW ‘brings’ more of such events to Bydgoszcz.”WhereasMr. Alejandro Guerra emphasized that he is glad that we are now able to return to doing sports in a traditional way after the pandemic break and that now is a great time to start the event’s promotion activities in order to attract as many participants as possible.

Now, the Organizing Committee is working intensively on the implementation of further elements of preparations for the event. Soon there will be a meeting with the newly elected president of the Polish Canoe Federation – Grzegorz Kotowicz.
